Comics

The following comics are terrific, but not found in most newspapers. Most exist only on the web. If you like them, you may want to consider either buying books (if they exist) or donating to the authors to help cover the costs of server space.

Enjoy!

Part soap opera, part send-up of life in these modern times, Dykes is the perfect counterpoint to what we call 'reality'.

Alison Bechdel has been syndicating DTWOF for over twenty years in various Gay & Lesbian publications.  Numerous compilations have been published, as well as her award-winning memoir Fun Home.

Imagine a wolf (who works in a rather cutthroat business) marrying a rabbit (who runs an ISP). The resultant family includes her son, his adopted hedgehog daughter, and their baby carnivorous bunny. It's a weird family even for their world. Kevin & Kell is published on the web and in several collections by Plan 9 Publishing.

Kevin & Kell is just one of the three daily strips by Bill Holbrook; the others are the syndicated strips On The Fastrack, about corporate life, and Safe Havens, about high schoolers.

Jorge Cham, a mechanical engineering student at Stanford, has been publishing his take on grad students at Stanford for 6 years now.

The strip is published in The Stanford Daily (and a few other college papers) on Wednesdays and Fridays during the school year. Two strip collections have been published as well.

Punch 'n Pie

One of the things Aeire's been doing (with co-creator Chris Daily) since finishing Queen of Wands.  If Angela seems familiar, well, yes, she's from QoW :)

~ Thorn ~

One of the things Mimi's been doing since finishing AsIf! :) Yes, the Rosie of ~ Thorn ~ has some similarity to the Rosie of AsIf! - but only some. ~ Thorn ~ is set in the 50s and has a very different feel. It's also very good.

Two Lumps

OOooo!  I want to bet on the OOOOoooo!!!!  Two writers (one of them a cartoonist) speculated about what her cats would do if they'd brought them on vacation, and a comic was born.

Unshelved

A comic set in a library. What better?

....and on the more mundane side of syndicated, daily comics....
